An extensive and fantastic archive of materials from the personal files of multiple Academy Award-winning costume designer, Charles Le Maire. Dating from the 1930s up until Le Maire's death in 1985, this collection includes hundreds of costume design sketches, architectural sketches, notes to him on personalized stationery and business letterhead from luminaries such as Joan Crawford, Olivia de Havilland, David O. Selzick, Darryl Zanuck and Irene Dunne (among dozens of others), countless black and white stills (mainly from the 1950s-1960s) of movie stars and models wearing Le Maire's designs, paperwork such as contracts relating to his professional career and a box of his 1940s-era couture dress labels simply reading "Charles Le Maire." Le Maire was an important designer in Hollywood for over 30 years having won OscarsR for "All About Eve" (1950) and "Love is a Many Splendored Thing" (1955) and having been nominated numerous times throughout the years.
