“Kahlil Gibran Diary for 1979, with a selection for each week from The Prophet & his other writings,” Knopf, NY, blue gilt decorated morocco, front spine hinge weak.
The book bears a drawing with inscription and caricatures. On the first page, John has written “To Michael with Love John Yoko Sean X-mas 78.” He has gone on to draw facial caricatures of himself, Yoko and Sean, as a tree coming out of a flower pot. Above he has drawn a larger tree and the sun and written the message “I think I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree. The book was signed for John’s personal gardener, who Lennon called “Mike Tre.” Accompanying this wonderful piece is a certificate of authenticity from noted Beatles expert, Frank Caiazzo.
