1940s, gouache on celluloid, the first depicts a Japanese soldier, signed lower right Shamus Culhane and the second depicting a devil (which is most likely from Apple Andy, the devil being his bad conscience), both applied to hand-prepared backgrounds, both matted and framed.
9 ½ x 11in and 8 ½ x 11in within mat
Shamus Culhane directed cartoons for Walter Lantz starting with his first series of cartoons that were released in 1946. Culhane brought much experience in the field, having worked for Fleischers, Ub Iwerks, Leon Schlesinger and the Disney studio.
