1928, pencil on paper, the first drawing depicts a small image of the plane with Minnie and Mickey Mouse and the second depicts a large image of Minnie Mouse; the first annotated with 208 and the second with 239 on lower left.
The film "Plane Crazy" was Mickey’s first produced film as a silent and released later with sound after "Steamboat Willie." Mickey Mouse looked very much like a rodent in this earlier film with his thin limbs and thinner facial features with teeth when he smiled. He was barefoot and barehanded when Disney decided to make him look a bit friendlier and less rodent-like. Later he wore shoes, white four-fingered gloves and had a toothless smile.
The short was animated by Ub Iwerks and tells the story of Mickey Mouse trying to construct a rickety plane to emulate his hero, Charles Lindbergh. Unlike Lindbergh, his first attempt is a failure and he ends up crashing into a tree. However, he tries again and wrecks a car to construct a second plane and invites Minnie on board. Soon after take off, he hits a rock and is thrown from the plane leaving a screaming Minnie at the controls. Once again he gains control of the plane and attempts to kiss Minnie who refuses his affection. He gets mad and starts flying the plane in a madman manner. Minnie will have none of this and jumps from the plane using her bloomers as a parachute.
