Charles Schulz always had an inner ambition to be a cartoonist from the time he was a child. Throughout his youth, he and his father read the Sunday morning cartoons as part of their morning ritual. In pursuing his career as a cartoonist, he received his fair share of rejections. Finally after several rejection slips, he finally realized his dream of creating for syndicated daily comic strip when Peanuts debuted in October 2, 1950. By 1965, he was internationally recognized and successful and was awarded the Reuben Award by the National Cartoonist Society.
