1940, pastel and conté crayon on black paper, artist Bill Wallet, depicting the little devils from the Night on Bald Mountain sequence in the film when Chernabog releases the ghost and witches from their graves, castle and houses and they dance themselves into a frenzy, stamped Concert Feature, matted.
This layout drawing was created by artist Bill Wallett in his work with Kay Nielson in development of the look and style from this scene in the film. This early original employed black cats prowling through a village of nightmarish shapes to convey Walpurgis Nacht’s atmosphere of dread. It was fashioned in a seemingly odd shape to accommodate the camera moves planned in three scenes; production notes and peg holes appear in margins.
11 ¾ x 22 3/4in within mat
