Footnotes
Ferraris was active in Paris in the late 19th century where he fell under the influence of the artists of the Orientalist movement such as Jean Discart and others.
He later moved to the United States where he established a successful portrait practise; a 1903 portrait of J.D. Rockerfeller by Ferraris currently hangs in the Museum of the City of New York.
