Footnotes
Bossoli passed through Constantinople in 1843 whilst en-route from Russia to Italy. In 1854, when war was declared in the Crimea Bossoli travelled to England where his views of that area where in high demand. This success lead to a commission from The Times who published a series of the artist's lithographs of the Crimea.
