Lorna Moffat Pender (née Smith), daughter of William.
Adam Benet Randolph Pender, brother-in-law to Lorna.
Thence by direct descent to the current owner.
Carl Kahler arrived in Melbourne in 1885, soon establishing himself as a successful portrait painter in oil and pastel. His most famous work was the series 'Flemington Lawn on Cup Day' a large social grouping with each member of the crowd being an actual portrait.
