Mrs Filmer, seated in a red upholstered chair, wearing black dress with white lace collar held with a red brooch and white bonnet trimmed with lace and pale blue ribbons, tied beneath her chin with a pale blue ribbon.
Signed on reverse, dated and inscribed 1837/ Painted by W.C. Ross A.R./ Miniature Painter to the/ Queen/ Mrs Filmer and in a later hand mother of. Sir Edmund Filmer M.P. 8th Bart, gilt-metal frame with ormolu slip and glazed reverse, set in a leather travelling case.
