Caroline was the youngest child of George Carpenter, 1st Earl of Tyrconnel (1723–62) and Frances Clifton. She married in 1774 Uvedale Price (1747-1829), a landscape architect and writer. Together they had two children, Robert (d.1857) and Caroline (d.1853). Her portrait by Reynolds, painted in 1787 is in the Wernher Foundation collection.
