With two-stage cannon barrel with turned muzzle-ring, breech and integral tang each engraved with strawberry foliage, border engraved rounded cock (top jaw and screw replaced) and signed rounded lock each decorated with strawberry foliage, figured half-stock (some bruising) with rounded butt and sparsely carved apron around the barrel tang, iron mounts comprising thin border engraved drop-shaped butt-plate extending up towards the apron, engraved trigger-guard with early form of acorn finial, and button trigger (iron parts with some rust patination), London proof marks and maker's mark

Robert Sibthorpe was apprenticed to Thomas Green in 1698. He was Contractor to Ordnance between 1706-15. Recorded as 'being poor' he was given a grant by the Gunmakers' Company in 1724
