A 22-Bore Flintlock Holster Pistol
By W. Upton Of Oxford, Late 17th Century

With three-stage barrel (polished bright) with octagonal breech becoming polygonal, tang retaining faint traces of original engraving, signed border engraved rounded lock (cock later, steel replaced) decorated with strawberry foliage issuing from a male profile head, moulded figured beechwood full stock, iron mounts comprising engraved serpentine side-plate pierced and chiselled with foliage, shaped escutcheon engraved with a helmeted male profile head against a stippled ground, border engraved spurred pommel decorated with strawberry foliage terminating in a monster's head on each side, moulded trigger-guard, turned ramrod-pipes, and later ramrod with iron tip (iron parts with some rust patination)
