Two German Staghorn Powder-Flasks
Both Mid-19th Century, Probably Black Forest

The first formed from a section of stained natural staghorn carved in cameo with two stags, two hinds and a fawn in a wooded landscape, the top and bottom each carved in cameo with branches of oak, and threaded cap opening to reveal the nozzle retaining its pricker; the second with triangular body of natural staghorn carved in cameo on the outside with a stag in a wooded landscape (nozzle missing, base-plate replaced) (2)
