A Cased Pair Of 25-Bore Flintlock Duelling Pistols

With rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrels each with silver fore-sight and engraved with a band of foliage at the breech, engraved tangs each incorporating a back-sight, platinum-lined touch-holes, signed engraved flat bevelled locks each with stepped tail decorated with foliage, engraved safety-catch, rainproof pan and roller, figured half-stocks (some bruising, one chipped along the fore-end on one side), chequered rounded butts each carved with a flowerhead on the pommel, engraved blued steel mounts comprising trigger-guards each in the French taste and with draped urn-shaped finials, and engraved fore-end caps also forming the rear ramrod-entries, set triggers, later horn-tipped ramrods, and some original finish: in later relined and refitted brass-mounted oak case with some accessories including two-way powder-flask with leather-covered body, the exterior of the lid (indented) with flush-fitting brass carrying handle and circular brass escutcheon, Tower private proof marks
