A Rare Silver-Mounted Flintlock Combined 50-Bore Box-Lock Pistol And Hunting Sword
By Griffin & Tow, London, Circa 1780, Indistinct Silver Hallmarks, Maker's Mark IK, Probably Of John King

With straight tapering fullered blade double-edged towards the point, turn-off two-stage barrel flared at the muzzle, action with applied border engraved plate on each side, the one on the left side signed, and the one on the right engraved 'London' and extending to form a scallop shell guard, engraved thumbpiece safety-catch also locking the steel, trigger-guard engraved with a flowerhead on the bow, figured rounded butt with a long shaped border engraved silver plaque on each side secured by silver pins, and engraved silver butt-cap, in its original black leather-covered wooden scabbard (repaired) with linear engraved silver locket and chape, London proof marks
66 cm. blade, 5.8 cm. barrel
