A Pair Of 18-Bore Brass-Mounted Flintlock Pistols
By Jones, Thomas 3, Cornhill, London, Circa 1750

With brass barrels slightly flared at the muzzles and each engraved 'Cornhill London' within a tear-drop shaped panel along the breech flat, grooved engraved tangs (one retaining screw missing), signed border engraved rounded locks (cocks replaced) each carved with a shell behind the barrel tang, cast and chased mounts comprising pierced trophy of arms side-plates, vacant escutcheons en suite, spurred trigger-guards each engraved with a flowerhead on both sides and with flowerhead-shaped caps, engraved trigger-guards (engraving refreshed on one, the other replaced) with early form of acorn finial, turned ramrod-pipes, and original iron-capped ramrod (the other missing, one trigger replaced), London proof marks and maker's mark (2)
