A Cased 54-Bore Tranter Patent Second Model Five-Shot Self-Cocking Percussion Revolver
No. 2458. T., Circa 1860

With octagonal sighted barrel engraved around the muzzle, border engraved top-strap, cylinder with roped forward edge, foliate scroll engraved frame, trigger-guard and butt-cap, sprung safety-stop and arbor-pin catch, patent detachable rammer and double-trigger, chequered rounded butt, and traces of original blueing (some wear and light rust patination overall): in relined and refitted mahogany case with some accessories including flask and brass bullet mould, the exterior of the lid (split) with vacant circular brass escutcheon, London proof marks
