The First Signed Charles Piper, Cambridge, All Mid-19th Century

The first with fluted barrels, foliate scroll engraved white-metal action (mechanism missing) and butt (grip-scales missing) signed along the back-strap and engraved trigger-guard (in poor condition), Birmingham proof marks; the last comprising one with octagonal sighted barrel signed 'S. Nock, London' along the top flat, engraved action (incomplete, hammer missing) and trigger-guard, chequered rounded butt with white-metal band around the flat ovoidal pommel, vacant white-metal escutcheon, and stirrup ramrod, Birmingham proof marks; another, with round barrel, action signed 'Egg, London' on the tang, and stirrup ramrod (butt and nipple missing, polished bright), Birmingham proof marks; and another, with octagonal barrel, and foliate engraved white-metal action and under-rib (nipple, action, hammer, trigger-guard and stirrup ramrod missing), Liège proof; together with the fluted barrel-block from a percussion pepperbox revolver, London proof marks (5)
