Two 54-Bore Transitional Six-Shot Self-Cocking Percussion Revolvers
The First By Frederick Barnes & Co., Birmingham, Both Mid-19th Century

The first with octagonal sighted barrel signed in full along the top-flat, cylinder with recessed nipples and engraved around the forward edge, foliate scroll engraved rounded action, bar-hammer with Barnett-type rear-sight slot, trigger-guard and butt, patent screw rammer engraved 'Patent D.B.9.', and chequered rounded grips, Birmingham proof marks; the second with two-stage barrel with octagonal breech, plain cylinder with recessed nipples, foliate scroll engraved rounded white-metal action and butt, scroll engraved bar-hammer and trigger-guard, and figured rounded grips (both revolvers worn and rust patinated), Birmingham proof marks (2)
