An Unusual 14-Bore Flintlock Heavy Game Rifle
By Westley Richards, London, Circa 1830

With long rebrowned twist sighted barrel signed along the sighting flat at the breech and rifled with seven grooves, platinum-lined touch-hole, foliate engraved tang and signed flat bevelled detented lock, the latter (steel refaced) with semi-rainproof pan and roller, figured full stock with chequered grip, bellied butt with cheekpiece, foliate scroll engraved brass mounts comprising butt-plate and trigger-guard, the latter with pineapple finial, set trigger, vacant white-metal escutcheon, ivory fore-end cap, and steel ramrod, probably original, Birmingham proof marks
