A 54-Bore Percussion New England 'Kentucky' Rifle, And The Parts Of Two Percussion Plains Rifles Of 40-Bore And 80-Bore Respectively
The First Signed I. Adgar, Phila, All 19th Century

Each converted from flintlock, the first with octagonal sighted smooth-bore barrel stamped 'Phila' on the top flat towards the breech (tang repaired), signed flat lock (defective, hammer replaced) with a gamebird and foliage on the tail, figured maple full stock (some damage, reduced from full) with cheekpiece (oval plate missing) with five small loops beneath for retaining a pricker (missing), engraved hinged patch-box cover, the surrounding mounts held by screws and pierced with an eagle's head at the top, and brass mounts (side-nail plate missing) including curved butt-plate and associated trigger-guard (ramrod missing, worn overall, steel parts rust patinated); the second each in poor and partly restored condition (mechanisms missing and partly detached, triggers, one trigger-guard, ramrod-pipes and ramrods missing), one with lock stamped 'Wolfe Bishop & Co, Warranted' (3)
