An 80-Bore Percussion Plains Rifle, And Another Of 60-Bore
The First By The Pennsylvania Rifle Works, The Second Signed I. Crist, Both 19th Century

The first converted from flintlock, with octagonal sighted barrel rifled with seven grooves and crudely scratched at a later date with an owner's name on one side at the breech, flat lock (defective, retaining screw missing) with stamped maker's details, slender figured full stock (damaged around the lock), butt with cheekpiece inlaid with a pinned oval white-metal plaque, brass mounts comprising shaped side-plate, curved butt-plate (bottom plate replaced), spur trigger-guard and faceted ramrod-pipes, vacant silver heart-shaped escutcheon, and set trigger (ramrod missing, steel parts pitted); the second converted from flintlock, with octagonal sighted barrel signed on the top flat towards the breech, engraved lock stamped 'Warranted', artificially figured full stock (some splits on the fore-end, old damage repaired with a brass plate held by screws), brass mounts including curved butt-plate and spurred trigger-guard, set trigger, brass fore-end cap, and plain brass ramrod-pipes (ramrod missing, worn and rust patinated overall) (2)
