A .50 Smith's Patent Breech-Loading Percussion Carbine
No. 7057, Circa 1861-65

With two-stage sighted barrel retained by a single barrel band and a spring-catch extending back over the breech, action stamped on the left side 'Address Poultney & Trimble, Baltimore, U.S.A.' above 'Smith's Patent June 23. 1857' and third marking 'Manufactured By Mass. Arms Co. Chicopee Falls', butt and fore-end (minor chip, some bruising), steel mounts, brass barrel-release in front of the trigger, and sling loops (some wear and rust patination)
