A German 28-Bore D.B. Percussion Sporting Rifle
By Gottlieb Wolff In Eisenach, No. 26, Dated 1857

With twist sighted barrels each rifled with eight grooves and signed in full in silver between inlaid silver scrollwork along the rib at the breech, breeches with silver lines and engraved foliage partly inlaid with silver between, long tang en suite and inlaid in silver with a recumbent hound in a landscape, flat locks each engraved with foliage partly inlaid in silver, one with silver-inlaid boar in a landscape, the other with a hind, engraved safety-bolsters, figured half-stock carved with a hound's head on the fore-end (eyes missing), chequered grip heightened with silver pins and carved with a stag's head beneath with glass eyes and branches of oak in its mouth, cheekpiece carved with a stag and hind in a landscape behind, foliate engraved shaped steel hinged patch-box cover inlaid with a silver stag in an engraved landscape, wooden butt-plate, dark horn trigger-guard with pierced spur, set trigger, sling mounts, and original iron-tipped ramrod
