Incised with scrimshaw work retaining traces of original red and green pigment and depicting the forts and settlements along the Hudson (North) and Mohawk rivers from New York up to Canada, with views including New York, Albany, Fort Niagara and Lake Ontario, troops firing at each other, the Hanovarian royal arms above a trophy of arms, shipping, and a cartouche inscribed 'John (surname defaced) Aug. 27 1759', tapering nozzle of octagonal section with two raised turns at the centre, and base-plug with remains of textile covering (base probably reduced)
