An Italian Rapier
Circa 1620-30, Possibly Venetian

With tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section incised with letters within the fullers on each side of the forte, hilt of 'crab-claw' form with oval side-ring on the outside above a scallop-shaped shell, arms secured to the shell by screws, quillons with scrolled fluted 'fish-tail' terminals, rounded pommel with prominent button, and grip bound with twisted steel wire (some wear and pitting overall)
