An English Basket-Hilted Broadsword
Mid-17th Century

With tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section indistinctly stamped '1616' within the short fuller on each side of the forte, 'Irish' guard of slender bars involving incised and punched saltires, fore-guards, associated flattened circular pommel, and later leather-covered wooden grip (pitted overall)
