An English Officer's Sword
Circa 1680

With tapering double-edged blade (pitted) incised with running wolf mark on each side of the forte, brass hilt comprising double shell-guard finely cast in relief on each side with a male profile head between foliated monsters, and linked to the knuckle-guard by a slender scrolled bar on each side, the former with central double leaf-calyx, short rear quillon en suite, and globular pommel with a figure of St. George on horseback slaying the dragon, and original wooden grip (wormed, binding missing)
