Mid-17th Century

With tapering blade double-edged towards the point, cut with a single fuller over most of its length along the back on each side and struck with a mark on each side towards the forte, iron 'mortuary' hilt comprising guard roughly chiselled with four human masks, slender knuckle-guard connected to two side-guards by two curved bars on each side, globular pommel roughly chiselled with foliage, and wooden grip (wormed and damaged, rust patinated overall)
