The first with sharply tapering blade (polished bright) of hollow triangular section retaining traces of etched decoration on each side of the forte, the highly polished hilt comprising oval shell-guard, rounded quillons, pierced knuckle-guard and globular pommel, each set with multi-faceted beadwork enriched with small cut-steel stars on blued steel washers (two missing), and faceted grip cut with an oval design on each side, in blackened vellum-covered scabbard (chape missing) with linear engraved locket with cut-steel frog-button on one side and pricked 'Bland St. James's' (worn) on the other; the second with tapering colichemarde blade (polished bright), silvered steel hilt chiselled with trophies of arms against a ground of foliate scrollwork and comprising pierced shell-guard and quillon-block, straight quillons with short arms, knuckle-guard, associated globular pommel, and later wire-bound grip (2)
