The first with broad tapering blade (worn and repaired) of flattened slightly hollow diamond section etched over each side with crowned monogram of a Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg, the Hanoverian stallion, motto and a martial trophy of arms below, earlier tapering socket of circular section with two roped brass bands, and side-straps, on associated wooden staff of circular section; the second with broad blade (slightly pitted) of flattened diamond section, decoratively pierced below and with two waved integral side-lugs, tapering socket with three turned and moulded bands, and shortened side-straps, on later wooden staff of circular section (2)
