An 1821 Pattern Light Cavalry Officer's Sword
By Hawkes, Moseley & Co., Piccadilly, Circa 1820-30

With slightly curved pipe-backed blade double-edged towards the point, the forte etched with crowned 'GR IV' monogram within branches of laurel on each side, and with maker's details on one side, regulation steel hilt of two border engraved bars swept-up to join the knuckle-guard, pommel and back-piece in one, and wire-bound fishskin-covered grip, in its steel scabbard (dented, lightly pitted overall) with two rings for suspension
