Two Indian Tulwars
17th/18th Century

The first with curved very finely watered single-edged blade pricked with two cartouches containing Arabic calligraphy on one side at the forte, hilt of characteristic form chiselled with silvered foliage and cloud-bands against a stippled ground over each side of the pointed langets, on the button quillons and over the top of the domed disc-shaped pommel, the grip and underside of the pommel inlaid with silver flowering foliage and arabesques, in wooden scabbard covered in green velvet with silver chape pierced with arabesques on each side; the second with slightly curved finely watered single-edged blade (polished), and silvered iron hilt of characteristic form with knuckle-guard and decorated with punched foliage overall (2)
