A Rare And Unusual Russian Shasqua
Dated 1841

With curved bright single-edged blade double-edged towards the point in front of the yelman and with a slender fuller along the back-edge over much of its length on each side, one side in front of the forte with an etched panel of foliage framing the inscription 'Zlatoust 1841 Cast blade by P. Anosov' in Russian, steel hilt of characteristic form etched over both sides with scrolling foliage retaining traces of original gilding, in original wooden scabbard covered in red velvet with shaped steel locket, chape with drag, and suspension mounts all en suite with the hilt, two rings for suspension (some wear overall), and later red leather suspension strap
