A Spanish Grenadier's Sword
Dated 1788

With tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section stamped with crowned 'R' mark and 'Cs. III' along one side of the forte, and 'D. To. 1788' on the other, regulation steel hilt with up-turned shell-guard, knuckle-guard and side-guard linked together by a scrolled bar, short rear quillon, thumb-ring, and cord-bound leather-covered wooden grip (leather incomplete, surface rust overall)
