A Caucasian 20-Bore Miquelet-Lock Pistol, And A Balkan 13-Bore Miquelet-Lock Rifle
Both 19th Century, The Second Probably Albanian

The first with barrel retaining traces of gold-damascened decoration along the top flat and shaped panel at the breech, the latter with gold-lined maker's mark beyond (gold mostly missing), gold-damascened back-sight and characteristic lock, Circassian walnut full stock (fore-end incomplete), white-metal mounts including two pierced barrel bands, steel strap along the back of the butt gold-damascened with arabesques and bordered on each side with shaped white-metal (one side incomplete) engraved with a foliate design, spherical pommel (suspension ring missing), and faceted button trigger (some wear overall, ramrod missing); the second with chiselled rifled barrel swamped at the muzzle, engraved characteristic lock, wooden full stock of characteristic form entirely covered in iron panels engraved with whorls, and with symmetrical foliage on the 'fish-tail' butt (damaged), trigger-guard with slender turned tapering tang, two incised brass barrel bands, and iron ramrod (worn and rust patinated overall) (2)
