An Arabian Gold-Mounted Shamshir

With curved single-edged watered blade chiselled with a cartouche containing Arabic calligraphy within a gold-inlaid border on one side at the forte, hilt comprising silver quillons with faceted quillons overlaid with gold sheet and applied on each side with a shaped foliate engraved gold panel, engraved gold collar and grip-strap, beaked rounded ivory grips with three embossed gold roundels along each side, and a domed gold roundel forming an eye on each side of the pommel, in original wooden scabbard covered in ribbed black leather with foliate engraved and punched gold mounts comprising locket with incised Arabic inscription and date, deep chape, and suspension mounts each with a ring for suspension
