A Bosnian Dagger
19th Century

With tapering double-edged blade with two slender central fullers between cut lines converging towards the point over most of its length on each side, the forte chiselled with a figure of eight shaped foliate panel against a punched ground on each side, the hilt with waisted rounded dark horn grips each decorated with white-metal pins and mounted with two roundels (one missing) set with a fluted coral and turquoise beads (two missing), and divided by a silver grip strap en suite, in original wood-lined white-metal scabbard embossed and chased on each side with foliage and a central panel of trelliswork, the locket set with fluted corals and turquoise beads (some losses) en suite with the hilt
