Signature Illegible But Probably By Patrick Of Liverpool, Circa 1800
With rebrowned twist sighted barrels (some pitting) engraved with a star motif on the top breeches (gold lines missing), one engraved 'Liverpool' beyond, gold-lined touch-holes, foliate engraved tang grooved for sighting, border engraved flat bevelled locks each with roller and decorated with a starburst on the stepped tail (gold lines missing), a gundog and two gamebirds on the back of the lock-plate, and a gamebird on the cock (one retaining screw replaced), highly figured butt (minor splits at the left lock, butt extended), steels mounts (some wear) engraved en suite with the locks and comprising butt-plate and scroll trigger-guard, the latter with pineapple finial, and ramrod housed between the barrels, London proof marks
