With browned twist sighted barrel in three stages, octagonal breech becoming polygonal and with oval gold-lined maker's stamp of second type, gold line and gold-lined touch-hole, tang finely engraved with a gundog and foliage, and incorporating a sighting groove engraved with a starburst, signed flat bevelled lock (some pitting) with safety-catch, gold-lined pan (gold incomplete) and roller acting against a ramp on the steel-spring, figured half-stock (repairs) with characteristically chequered grip and fore-end, butt with padded leather cheekpiece (expertly renewed), engraved steel mounts (pitted) including scroll trigger-guard with large pineapple finial, silver escutcheon engraved with owner's initials, horn fore-end cap, and later brass-mounted ramrod, London proof marks
