A Cased 20-Bore D.B. Percussion Sporting Gun

Converted from flintlock, with rebrowned twist sighted barrels retaining traces of maker's details and 'New Improvements by His Majesty's Patent' along the elevated rib, breeches engraved with a martial trophy between and each with pierced platinum plug, tang engraved with a lion-mask above an open book against a foliate ground, signed foliate engraved flat bevelled locks (gravitating safety-stops removed) each decorated with a quiver of arrows and an open book against foliage at the stepped tail, finely figured half-stock with chequered grip, steel mounts including trigger-guard decorated en suite with the locks on the bow, trigger-plate with pineapple finial with water-drain, vacant silver escutcheon, and brass-mounted ramrod (steel parts with some wear and rust patination): in refitted brass-mounted mahogany case lined in green velvet, the interior of the lid with reproduction trade label, the exterior with flush-fitting brass carrying handle and circular brass escutcheon
