By Gardner, Probably John, Newcastle, Early 19th Century

Converted from flintlock, with rebrowned twist sighted barrels signed along the rib, case-hardened breeches each with gold lines and engraved with a starburst between, grooved tang finely engraved with foliage, signed border engraved flat bevelled locks each engraved with a dog and gamebird on the tail and fitted with a sprung cap-retainer, figured half-stock (fore-end damaged and repaired), butt with cheekpiece and chequered grip, reblued steel mounts engraved with martial trophies and foliage comprising butt-plate and large scroll trigger-guard, trigger-plate with pineapple finial, vacant silver escutcheon, and brass-mounted ramrod, probably original, Birmingham proof marks
