Two 13-Bore 'Bar-In-Wood' D.B. Pin-Fire Sporting Guns
By Westley Richards, 170 New Bond St., London, Nos. 10.319 And 10.023, Circa 1870

With twist sighted barrels (some wear, partly bright) each signed in full along the rib and inscribed 'Patent' between gold lines in front of the engraved 'dolls head', scroll engraved tang with chequered thumb-lever inscribed 'Westley Richards Patent', signed foliate scroll engraved locks, figured butts each with chequered grip and detachable fore-end, foliate scroll engraved steel mounts (one butt-plate missing), vacant silver escutcheons, and horn fore-end caps (one missing, both guns worn overall), London and Birmingham proofs marks, one with later black powder proof marks (2)
