A Fine French Flintlock Box-Lock Pocket Pistol
By [Boutet] Ma re Royale Versailles, No. 5, Circa 1815

With bright turn-off barrel engraved around the muzzle, numbered '5' in an oval beneath and engraved with a band of leaves at the breech, bright border engraved action elaborately signed in script on each side and chiselled with a row of small flowerheads beneath the pan on each side, thumbpiece safety-catch in the form of a top jaw, foliate engraved cock and steel, the former with top jaw engraved with a cloud and thunderbolts, the latter with triple rollers, folding trigger engraved with an urn and foliage, the tang numbered '67', screws with foliate engraved heads, highly figured rounded butt with a chequered panel on each side, serial numbered '5' throughout, and retaining much of its original brightly polished finish
