A German 16-Bore Flintlock Sporting Rifle
By Christian Ludwig Von Der Fecht A Berlin, Mid-18th Century

With heavy octagonal leaf-sighted barrel inlaid with engraved silver foliage at the muzzle and breech, signed in silver along the top flat, and rifled with seven grooves, plain tang, later flat bevelled lock (reconverted from percussion) signed 'J. Devillers' above crossed palms, moulded figured full stock (some minor damage and bruising) carved with foliage behind the barrel tang, butt with cheekpiece and carved sliding patch-box cover, foliate engraved brass mounts comprising pierced ribbon side-plate, butt-plate with oval steel plaque engraved 'Oer. tel.', spur trigger-guard, and ramrod-pipes, set trigger (incomplete), horn fore-end cap, and horn-tipped ramrod
