An English Rapier
Circa 1620-30

With tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section, rectangular ricasso, iron hilt comprising cup formed of large double concentric side-rings framing a pair of central scallop-shaped shells, and linked by curved side-bars to the knuckle-guard with ring-shaped terminal, vertically recurved quillons with triangular terminals, large faceted ovoidal pommel, and original wooden grip (slight damage, wire binding missing, painted with pitch overall)
