An English Broadsword
Mid-17th Century

With tapering double-edged blade indistinctly incised 'Ferara' within the short fuller on each side of the forte and with running wolf mark beyond, iron 'mortuary' hilt comprising guard pierced and chiselled with foliage involving a human mask on each side, slender knuckle-guard connected to two side-guards by two scrolled bars chiselled with foliage on each side, globular pommel roughly chiselled with foliage, and wooden grip with remains of textile binding (some wear and rust patination overall)
