Circa 1640

With tapering blade double-edged towards the point and cut with a double fuller along the back-edge for most of its length on each side, iron 'mortuary' hilt with solid guard roughly chiselled with foliage, drawn out into a knuckle-guard flanked by similar side-bars and linked by diagonal scrolls, the knuckle-guard and side-bars screwed to the roughly chiselled globular pommel (screws replaced), and wooden grip (wormed, wire binding missing, pitted overall)
