A Rare English Naval Officer's Hanger
Late 18th Century

With curved fullered blade (some pitting overall) double-edged towards the point, slotted brass hilt retaining very faint traces of gilding in places and comprising half-basket guard with scrolled side-bar enclosing a fouled anchor and swept-up to join the fluted knuckle-guard (minor repairs), lion-head pommel with button finial, and swelling wooden grip (minor damage) carved with roundels and bound with copper ribbon
